My Scooter Won’t Start – Check These Things Out Before Taking It In

[ad_1]

Sooner or later, almost every gas scooter driver will have the occasion to ask, “What do I do when my scooter won’t start?” It is that sinking feeling you get when you insert the key into your ignition, twist your handlebar grip or step down on the kickstarter, and — nothing happens. Just a few clicks or dead silence. Now what do you do?

If you are not mechanically inclined, then you might believe your only recourse is to load your scooter into a flatbed truck and haul it to the closest scooter mechanic for evaluation. Luckily, there are a number of things you can do first, most of which will cost you nothing, and one of which is very likely to solve your problem quickly.

Just follow our easy checklist and before you know it, you may have your gas scooter back on the road.

Scooter Start Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Was your kill switch pushed to the on position accidentally? Believe it or not, this happens quite often. Somehow, your hand pushes this rocker switch without you even realizing it. This has to be the easiest and fastest remedy to scooter start problems!
  • Is your battery dead? If you’ve left your battery in your scooter for more than a couple of weeks without starting the scooter, there is every possibility that your scooter drained during the interim. Sometimes it can be recharged, but often it will need to be replaced. Avoid this problem in the future by taking your scooter out of the battery compartment if you don’t plan to drive for a while or by hooking it up to a trickle charger.
  • Have you checked the fuse? You can usually find a scooter fuse in or near the battery compartment, which is usually under the floorboard on the scooter.
  • Is it a choke problem? Try putting your hand over the air filter opening and see if it starts better. If it does, then the choke is probably the issue. At least now, you know where to start.
  • Could the solenoid be bad? To check the solenoid, you have to locate it in your scooter (use your manual or look for help online), then put a screwdriver across the positive and negative terminals. There will be sparks so don’t panic. If the starter spins when you do that, you have to replace the solenoid.
  • Do your valves need adjusting? For new scooters, especially cheaper varieties, after a couple hundred miles, it is likely that your valve clearances need to be adjusted. Check your manual or online to find out the right clearances for your size engine and how to do the adjustment.
  • Did you hold in the brake lever when trying to start? For many gas scooters, there is a built-in safety feature that prevents the scooter from starting unless one of the brake levers is pushed in. Check both brakes when starting. One of them should work. If not, then it could be that your brake switch needs replacing.
  • Did you drop your scoot or lay it down on its side? If so, gas or oil may have gotten into the wrong places. Try taking your gas cap off, changing out the spark plug and/or changing the oil and filter to see if that helps.
  • Could your carburetor be clogged? Take out your spark plug and spray in starter fluid, then put your plug back in and try to start the scooter. If it starts and dies, you have a clogged carburetor and it needs cleaning. You can find carburetor cleaning fluid at your local auto parts store, but do follow the safety precautions.

If you move through this entire scooter start troubleshooting checklist, then you may still need to have it diagnosed and fixed by a professional. But hopefully you discovered why your scooter won’t start and are now back in the driver’s seat, motoring down your favorite road.

Welding Stainless Steel – How to Weld 303 Free Machining Stainless

[ad_1]

Welding stainless steel is gravy. Well, at least most of the time that is.

Here is a story about a certain kind of stainless that is not so easy to weld.

“Hey John,  you can handle tig welding 303 stainless steel, right?”

That’s the question that the machine shop owner just asked you right after notifying you that your welding shop won the contract that pays 18,000 dollars for welding 4000 spindles made from 303 stainless.

And by the way, the parts are already machined and on a truck on its way to your welding shop.

You ignore the 303 stainless steel comment because you know stainless steel is a piece of cake to weld…

Your welders are certified. They are craftsmen. They take pride in their work. There is no problem

The day the parts arrive on a pallet, your welders are drooling over all the gravy work they are about to do. Your welders love stainless steel and the quality they produce is nothing short of artwork.

“This Stainless Steel welds like crap! I think I may have some bad argon!” says your top dog welder as he lifts his hood after welding the first of the 4000 axles.

“Its undercutting, and it just welds funky. Something is definitely wrong.”

You swallow hard. Your stomach sinks.

You are committed to getting the job done. You need the money badly, and you want to impress the machine shop owner so she will keep sending you work.

So here is what you do…

Follow these tips for welding 303 stainless and things wont be so bad.

  1. Use 308L filler rod
  2. use just enough amperage to make the weld
  3. add a little more filler metal than you would on 304 stainless
  4. hold a tight arc to prevent undercut
  5. taper the amperage slowly if you are tig welding to prevent crater cracking

Rough Country, A Virgil Flowers Novel by John Sanford

[ad_1]

After reading the last Lucas Davenport “Prey” novel by John Sanford, I swore I’d never read another of his books. What can I say? I’m weak – and desperate. There just isn’t that much good reading out there, so when I saw “Rough County” I decided to take a chance. It’s good!

I believe Sanford made the right decision when he spun Virgil Flowers off from the crew in the Davenport books. Lucas Davenport has become domesticated and, well, boring. Virgil, on the other hand, is young, smart, surfer-boy cute and a good cop. He drives a truck with his aluminum boat hooked onto the back, just in case he decides to go fishing, and frequently misplaces his gun. He’s a babe-magnate which makes this story really fun. It’s about a murder that occurs at an all woman lodge in northern Minnesota, and many of the woman are Lesbians.

Poor Virgil is on vacation out fishing with his buddy, Johnson Johnson (really!) when Davenport calls and asks him to cut his vacation short to investigate a murder at Eagle’s Nest. A woman was out paddling around the lake and someone shot her in the head. Virgil starts investigating and runs into more than one suspect. The dead woman, Erica, had a brief dalliance with Wendy, the lead singer in an all girl band. Berni, aka Raven, Wendy’s main girlfriend wasn’t too happy to hear that bit of news. Virgil puts her on the list of suspects. Then there’s Ruth, Erica’s life partner. Did she know about the hanky-panky at the lodge? The list of suspects grows long and interesting.

The beginning of the book is fast-paced and very funny. Sanford has a knack for creating colorful, but believable characters. By the middle, I knew who the killer was and was pretty sure of the big plot twist. Toward the end, the pace slowed down – way down until by page 350, I was skimming. Too much detail, obvious filler. I know the book would have been a better, tighter book with fewer pages. I do have one other picky. One of the key characters was Wendy’s father who’s name is Slibe. Now, I have no clue how to pronounce this name – one word SLIBE or two SLI-BE? Therefore, every time I came upon this name, and it was frequent, I stopped to try and figure out the pronunciation! As an author you do NOT want to do that because every time you stop a reader, there’s a possibility he/she won’t start again!

All in all, I enjoyed the book partly because I grew up in Minnesota and am a little familiar with the territory and characters. “Rough Country” is a fast read in spite of its length and I do recommend it.

How To Learn Genders In Spanish and Masculine and Feminine Spanish Nouns and Adjectives

[ad_1]

Today’s is lesson on how to learn genders in Spanish, and masculine and feminine Spanish nouns and adjectives. This is usually a headache for Spanish’s students. Although there are many exceptions, in this lesson we are going to learn some tricks to identify the gender of the words. And also, we are going take a look at some “False friends”, words that look like they should be masculine but are really feminine and vice versa.

The ending “-o” is masculine: el camionero (truck driver), el auto (the car). (But remember there are a lot of exceptions).

The ending “-a”, “-esa”, “-isa”, “-ina”, “-iz” is female: la leona (the lioness), la cornisa (the cornise), la colina (the hill), la actriz (the actress), la chica (the girl), la condesa (the countess).

Words ending in “ción”/ “sión” are always female: la nación (the nation), la canción (the song), la invasión (the invasion), la excursión (the excursion).

Abstract Nouns are always female: la violencia (the violence), la pereza (the laziness), la idiotez (the idiocy), la maldad (the evil), la amargura (the biterness), la juventud (the youth). (Much of these have endings like: “-dad”, “-ez”, “-eza”, “-ancia”, “-encia”, “-ura”, “-tud”.

Let’s take a look at some words that look like they should be masculine but are really feminine and vice versa.

La moto (because it really is “motoneta”). (the motorcycle)

La foto (fotografía). (the photography)

La radio (radiofonía). (the radio)

La mano (the hand)

El problema (the problem)(Remember always: “el problema” is masculine and “la solución” feminine)

El clima (the weather)

El mapa (the map)

El día (the day)

The following are some words where you are no tricks or rule to remember if they are masculine or feminine.

Words ending in “-e”: el coche (the car), el peine (the comb), la leche (the milk), la mente (the mind). (the wall), el lugar (the place).

Words ending in “ista”: el/la periodista (the journalist), el/la oculista (the eye doctor), el/la oficinista (the clerck).

One course that I recommend for learning this topic is the Learning Spanish Like Crazy self-study course. A book called Complete Spanish Grammar is another tool that my students have found helpful on this topic.

Custom Spinner Rims – Spinner Attachments

[ad_1]

Have you ever thought about a set of spinner rims for your vehicle? Sure you have and buying on line is the best way to go. Dare to drive something different, spinning car rims are one of the most popular car, truck and SUV accessories available. A spinning chrome rim is a step up from your normal custom aluminum alloy or chrome wheel and their flashy looks are very appealing.

Most spinning rims are spinner attachments mounted on custom wheels. But they will not work on just any custom wheels. Custom wheels that are designed with a negative offset or designed for rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles can accept spinning rim attachments. Negative offset of a wheel means that the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned closer to the disk/drum, axle or behind the center line of the wheel and is commonly referred to as a deep dish wheel. This offset is common in older vehicles. Modern RWD custom wheels are deep enough so that the spinning rim attachment can ride inside the wheel. A negative offset custom wheel with a large rim lip of 1 to 2 inches is ideal for most spinning rim attachments.

How do I mount spinning rim attachments? Spinner wheel attachments are made from three parts. The spinner attachment is made from aluminum alloy and usually chrome plated. The spinner then rides on a heavy duty sealed roller bearing and attached to a base. The spinner base has holes or slots and through these slots bolts are used to mount the attachment on a custom wheel. These bolts screw into special lug nuts installed on the custom wheel. The special lug nuts and mounting bolts are part of a kit that must be purchased with the spinning wheel attachment.

Choose your new set of spinner attachments from manufacturers like Asanti, Chopper, Excess Spin, MC Motorsports, Mega-Spinners, Spintek, SpinWeel, Stop n Go and Vtec. You can find these spinner wheel attachments at many on line custom wheel suppliers.

Earn Money From Car Advertising – This is How to Get Paid to Drive Your Car!

[ad_1]

Are you looking for ways to make some extra cash every month the easy way? Then, you are at the right place. By reading this article you are going to find out how you can take advantage of the car advertising programs in order to make easy cash every month.

There are some very well-known companies out there that can actually pay you money to drive your own car. The only thing you need to do is to place an ad on your vehicle with the company’s logo. And, that’s it! You won’t have to do anything. Just drive your car as you would normally do. Of course, if you want to increase your salary there are a few more things you can do. For example you can agree to attend special events like parades where you can show off your car to many people, hand out brochures that advertise the company’s products or services and park your car in highly populated areas.

Normally, most companies pay you around $500-$800 per month, if you own a regular-sized vehicle. Of course if you own a truck, your salary will be much higher and can rise up to $3.000. Another way to get a bigger paycheck is to choose an advertisement that will cover the 3/4 of your vehicle. The advertisements are also known as “auto wraps” and they typically consist of the logo of a particular brand or company.

But, how can you ensure that your application will get accepted?

You first need to answer the following questions:

  • Are you more than 18 years old?
  • Do you own a valid drivers license?
  • Are you a resident of Canada, UK, US, Spain or France?
  • Do you live in a big city? (You can get selected even if you live in a small town, but in this case you have to drive many miles per day in busy highways).
  • Do you drive at least 400 miles per month?
  • Do you have a clean driving record with no serious violations like driving under the influence of drugs, in the last year?

If you answered yes to these questions then you are the ideal candidate for this program. If you get selected and don’t currently own a car, the company may even provide you with a new vehicle wrapped in advertisement. Of course, in this case you won’t get a monthly salary.

Nowadays you can find many companies that pay regular people to affix vinyl decals to their vehicles, because this is considered a very cheap and effective form of advertising. Even though, this job won’t get you rich, in these times of recession $800 per month can definitely come in handy.

How to Get a Military Personal Loan Up to 20,000 Dollars

[ad_1]

Military families, just like traditional families, have needs that are sometimes unmet by the pay that an officer or soldier receives from serving his or her country. If you are serving or have served in the military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, or Army Reserves, you can qualify for a military personal loan to meet your financial needs now.

Money For Any Purpose

A military personal loan can be used for any purpose. Perhaps you need to make a major purchase, such as furniture, appliances, or home improvement. Or maybe you need to buy a car, truck, SUV or other vehicle, take a vacation, pay for education for you or your children, or many other needs. Whatever reason you have for needing money, the fastest and easiest way to get the cash you need is through the military personal loan, and military personnel of all ranks qualify.

Borrow Up To $20,000

Military personal loans are available in amounts as small as $2,000 and as much as $20,000. Determine the amount that you need to borrow in advance of applying for your military loan, and borrow only the amount that you need. Remember that this is a loan and must be repaid, so never agree to a repayment amount that is more than you can meet with your current budget and other financial obligations. Military personal loans, just like other loans, will report either monthly or quarterly to the three major credit reporting bureaus – Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian.

Your military personal loan can be either unsecured or secured. The unsecured military personal loan does not require that you pledge security assets in the form of collateral to secure your cash, although you will be assessed a higher interest rate and usually have to repay your lender sooner. The unsecured version is perfect for the borrower who does not wish to risk their assets, or has nothing to use for collateral. The secured version requires that you pledge collateral, usually your home or automobile, and poses a lesser risk to the lender. Therefore, the secured military personal loan costs less in interest, can be repaid over a longer period of time, and features lower monthly payments.

Bad Credit Welcome

If your credit history is less than ideal, you might want to go for the secured military personal loan to improve your chances of approval. Borrowers with bad credit can also apply for their unsecured military personal loan with the help of a creditworthy cosigner. A cosigner should be someone who has established good credit, is willing to sign with you on your loan application, and agrees to repay the lender on your behalf if you fail to do so.

There are many lenders doing business online that write military personal loans for borrowers with all types of credit histories. These online lenders can typically save you money on both secured and unsecured military personal loans in terms of interest because of the increased level of competition in the online lending marketplace, which drives interest rates down. A savings of just a half of a point can save you hundreds of dollars over the life of your loan. Additionally, you can complete a nearly paperless application process on the secure website of the lender.

The Importance of Father-Daughter Relationships

[ad_1]

In Today’s busy world, Fathers find very little time to get involved in the nurture and development of their children. “Fathers bring a unique presence, a special strength to raising children,” says a clinical psychologist Ray Guarendia, in her book “Back to the Family.”

How true this is in the bringing up of daughters! Just as there is a special bond between mothers and sons, the relationship between fathers and daughters is unique. Fathers therefore cannot afford to remain remote characters in the lives of their daughters. Parenting is a joint venture, with fathers just as active participants as mothers.

There are various reasons why paternal involvement becomes limited.

o Ambitious and over worked Dads put their jobs before the welfare of their families. They come home too tired to spend quality time with their children. Often the children are asleep when they return, and leave for school before Dads are awake.

o Absentee Dads: Those with traveling jobs like airline pilots, sales representatives, businessmen or long distance truck drivers may be away from home frequently, sometimes for long stretches.

o Divorced Dads with limited visiting rights also cannot spend sufficient time with their children.

o False notions that girls are to be brought up exclusively by mothers or women in the house, make men distance themselves from their daughters. They feel awkward to show affection, and so miss out on the little intimacies they could share with their daughters.

The word “Dad” is of a universal nature. It conjures up qualities of responsibility, protection, love, and discipline. Being a father can be a rewarding job, and a man who abdicates his responsibility is falling short of his God-given role. John Rosemond a Family Counselor, wrote in one of his articles that a father must not only be present but be ‘actively involved’ and ‘a vigorously interested participant’ in the child rearing process.

Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India, spent long spells in prison during the struggle for Indian independence. He sorely regretted his separation from his beloved daughter Indira, but he kept in contact with her through letters, which were later compiled into a book “Glimpses of World History.” These letters express his deep love for her and the ease with which he expressed it.

“Priyadarshini, dear to my sight but dearer still to my heart…..”

“I think of the day when we shall all three meet again, and the thought of it lightens and cheers my heart.”

In spite of being absent, he kindled in her an interest in World history, Science and Politics, which contributed in no small measure to the moulding of her character.

Or who can forget Dad William Jackson Smart who raised six children single handedly in rural Washington and his daughter Senora Dodd, who fought for Fathers’ Day, as a dedication to dads like him.

To be a good father, one must needs be aware of a few essential requirements.

o Show Love. No father should feel embarrassed to show affection to his daughter. A touch, a hug, a special smile, and three little words “I love you” are tangible ways of communicating love. She learns to reciprocate that love. This is her first male-female relationship with her father, and will influence her behaviour with her husband in later life. The earliest reflection of herself as female comes from her dad. How does he regard her? Does he accept her without reservations? Or does he treat her as inferior to her brother? When he shows respect she feels worthwhile as an individual. When he ignores her or is too critical, she begins to feel that she is worthless.

o Show love and respect to her mother. A good and loving relationship between parents is the foundation for her evolution into a happy, well balanced child. It gives her a sense of security, and a good opinion about marriage.

o Shared Activities: A good father will show interest in his daughter’s activities. He will make her feel good about her abilities and achievements. He will find something to praise. A father should be his daughter’s cheer leader. Doing things together like reading, walking, playing games is time well spent. He will also learn to see things through her eyes as she walks him through her wonderland. Time is a very precious gift.

o Communication: Listening and paying attention to what a daughter says is a way of showing love. What may seem silly to an adult may be bothersome to a child. She should be encouraged to talk of her school problems, peer pressure, studies or any other conflict situations. A good father will help her find solutions to her problems. He will teach not blame. She will be free to voice her opinions and be open to advice.

o Respect: A girl child is to be regarded as a person and not as a possession. Her right to privacy and her space to grow must be respected.

o Honesty: Being honest with his child will make a father trustworthy in her estimation. Her questions should be answered sensibly. She should be taught to distinguish between right and wrong, honesty and dishonesty. She should not be forced to do what she doesn’t want to do by offering inducements, or threats or emotional blackmail.

o Discipline: “Discipline is one of the most loving, durable gifts a parent can give to his child,” says Gaurendi. It should be consistent, fair and administered with love. When training a child in the way she should go, the father should make sure he goes that way himself. The task of parenting is overwhelming. It is exciting to see men who take family responsibility seriously, and are caring and compassionate. The way a father speaks, the words he uses, the tone of his voice can be encouraging or discouraging. Dependability and Integrity which she learns from her father will prepare her for ‘the school of hard knocks’ she must pass through on her trek towards adulthood.

The relationship between father and daughter reaches a very delicate phase when she is in her teens. This period must be negotiated with tact and efficiency. She must be assured that he values her as an intelligent and independent person. Becoming aware of his daughter’s sexuality makes many a father uncomfortable. Suddenly he feels demoted in her list of priorities. So far, he was the centre of her universe. Now her eyes begin to rove and get focused on other boys. She wants to dress differently and behave differently. Some fathers cannot handle these changes well. They might react by being overprotective or overbearing.

o Overprotective: In a society which does not value modesty or sexual purity, Dad becomes afraid that his precious girl may go astray. He feels it is his duty to impose rules about dating and whom she will date, or how she will dress, or what company she will keep. This ‘paternal neurosis’ is unwelcome. The girl feels restricted. On the one hand it may make her feel insecure, as though she is incapable of taking care of herself. On the other hand, she might want to escape from this ‘smother love’ before it stunts her emotional growth.

o Overbearing: Daughters tend to rebel against dictatorial fathers. When rigid rules are imposed which she thinks unnecessary, when he restricts her activities she might begin to fear him or hate him. There is a distinct inclination to rebel. A father must be sensitive to the growing needs of his daughter and make allowances appropriately. He should negotiate fairly, allowing her to gain confidence and pride in her choices. But he must also impress upon her that choices have consequences.

A daughter considers her father a gauge by which she will estimate the worth of other men. If he is well behaved, dependable, honest and loving, she will look for those qualities in other men. He must be a praying father too as he reflects the unconditional love of God our father. Child psychologist Phyllis Bronstein says that while a mother teaches nurture and caring, a father teaches physical competence, self confidence in asserting opinions, and adventurism. Children with good fathers get on well with other people and are achievers. Whereas those who are neglected by their fathers show lower IQ, poor performance in school, and delinquency.

When fathers are abusive, hot tempered, irresponsible or alchoholics, this too has an adverse impact on daughters. They look for similar traits in husbands or lovers. Irrespective of the damage it does to them physically, psychologically and emotionally, this ‘father hunger’ compels them to seek such men, hoping that eventually things will change. One father said, “If I screw up, she will spend the rest of her life with a ‘screw up.’ I don’t want that to happen.”

Too much of molly coddling is unhealthy and can lead to ‘father fixation.’ This kind of wrong parenting can be the cause of the Electra Complex – a psychological term for a girl’s romantic feelings towards her father, and anger towards her mother. Carl Jung called it the “Female Oedipus Attitude.” This could even lead to incestuous relationship between father and daughter.

An anonymous poet has this advice for fathers:

“Take stock of yourself and consider your child,

Your time and your thoughts are her due;

For how would you answer the Lord if he asks

What kind of a father were you?”

Mobil Oil Change Business – To Buy a Franchise or Not to Buy a Franchise, That Is the Question

[ad_1]

If you are thinking of going into the Mobil Oil Change Business – you may have asked yourself; Should I buy a franchise or not. After running a franchise company called The Oil Change Guys for many years, I had seen both pros and cons for franchisees who have bought into the concept. Not long ago, someone asked me:

What would be the advantages and disadvantages going with a franchise apposed to going at it your self?

Now first off you must realize, that there are not that many Mobil Oil Change franchises available on the market in the first place. There is only one mobile franchise company that comes to mind, that has any strong brand-name identity; Oil Butler. There are however, several fairly well-known business opportunities that sell Mobil oil change business packages.

A person can buy a Mobil Oil Change business opportunity and use whatever name they wish for their company, this would be good for an entrepreneurial type, who wishes to build a strong local brand in a community, or servicing fleet business in the region.

If one is to buy a Mobil Oil Change franchised outlet, typically they will pay a $20,000 franchise fee, which is a definite big upfront cost. Those that buy a business opportunity will be buying a trailer, or equipment that they can put inside of a pickup truck or van. The prices for Mobil oil change equipment amongst the business opportunity crowd is pretty competitive, so, there is no one gouging you on price.

Likewise, a franchise or cannot charge its franchisees too much money for the equipment or use of the brand-name, because this would put its franchisees at a competitive disadvantage in the marketplace and the franchisee would have to recoup the initial startup costs, by charging more to its customers. There is strong demand in the sector, but there is also competition from fixed site locations and even Wal-Mart Auto Centers, where I get my oil changed.

Many Mobil Oil Change franchisors will tell you that they have fleet business available and contacts with large companies and this could start your business off at a fast pace. This is important because it takes a long time to build a serious customer base, without thoroughly blitzing the local market.

Building mobile oil change routes is very difficult, and to make money, these routes must be very efficient, and the customers must be very close together, especially considering the price of feel right now at three dollars per gallon. Additionally, in many markets, there is a quite a bit of traffic, and it cost a lot of labor to drive through that traffic to get to each customer.

So, if the routes are not tight, the costs of the operator will skyrocket due to labor and remember that automotive technicians are commanding a very high price right now in the market due to the shortage of auto mechanics. To make money in this business it is all about efficiency.

If someone is a very entrepreneurial driven individual then they may not like taking orders or having people tell them how to do things. If this is the case, then they will not like being in a franchise system. Theoretically, a franchise system has already made all the mistakes and the mistakes are built out of the business. So the franchised operator generally will go through a much quicker learning curve and thus, they will say if the money that they paid for the initial franchise fee.

One thing that many new Mobil oil change operators do not realize is that just because you sign up a customer does not necessarily mean that you will make a lot of money off of each one. This is because the average customer only changes the oil in their car every three months or 5000 miles.

The real money is not in the personal car market, but rather the fleet business market, where there are lots of trucks, buses or cars all lined up in a row. The mobile oil change business does not work well running like a pizza deliver service on call, unless properly grid out the city and that is a whole different type of business, but it can be done and it is fun to do.

Securing key accounts in fleet business is paramount and if a franchisor can help you do that quicker, then I would say they are worth every dollar. If they do not offer that type of marketing or assistance, then they may not actually be the great advantage that it would be franchise buyer might believe. If you know nothing about the business, then a franchisor generally has pretty good training, and many of the competitors who sell business opportunities do too, although, I have never attended any of them.

One other issue that is important to the Mobil Oil Change franchised sector, is that many franchisors have specific deals with certain oil companies, and you will be locked into using a certain type of oil. This is good for bulk purchases at a relatively low price, but problematic when you find a specific fleet customer that will only use a specific brand of oil in it is not the one that you are allowed to sell or carry. This can hurt sales, so ask such questions upfront.

So if you are thinking about buying a Mobil oil change business as a franchise or starting your own these are some the things that you will need to consider. If you have any additional questions, you need to seek an expert. There is a great book online that you can buy called Melric’s Mobile Oil Change Guide. I hope this answers your question.

Does Sitting Too Much Cause Sciatica?

[ad_1]

Something that many people know is that sitting too much causes sciatica. After all, one thing that many cases of sciatica have in common is that the people that suffer from it generally have jobs or lifestyles that involve sitting for a good portion of the day, whether it be working at a desk in an office, being a truck driver, or a student sitting in school for many hours a day.

But surly this can’t be the whole story, can it? There are so many other people out there that sit just as long, if not longer, that never experience the pain of sciatica. What else is going on here?

Well, for starters, sitting for long periods of time can cause stiffening in the muscles of the hips and back. This is probably one of the most common reasons why people develop conditions such as piriformis syndrome where a muscle becomes tense and irritates the sciatica nerve.

I understand that many jobs require sitting for many hours on end, such as office jobs or driving jobs and situations like sciatica or “trucker’s butt” may seem unavoidable. However, you certainly don’t need to sit continuously for 8 hours, do you?

Take a break every two hours or so and stand up from your desk or pull off to the side of the road and get out and move your body a little bit. Something as simple as this can be huge in preventing that muscle stiffness from developing and getting your blood flowing again.

Secondly, most people do not sit properly. I know so many people that put their wallet in their back pocket while they sit down or people that slouch or slump down in their chair while they’re working. These kinds of habits are just setting you up for sciatica.

You see, sitting with a wallet in your back pocket raises one hip higher than the other, which in turn, throws the whole spine out of alignment. And sitting with poor posture, that is just misaligning the spine as well.

When this happens, pressure and stress are not spread evenly through the spine the way they are meant to be and this can cause things like muscular imbalances and bulging discs in the back or hip areas.

It isn’t a big leap to go from bulging discs and muscle imbalances to sciatica pain and the belief that sitting is responsible for it all.

Really, though, it is important to realize that the act of sitting itself isn’t responsible for sciatica. Sitting is a normal and commonplace thing in our society. The problem is in the way that we sit.

Many of us sit for too long without taking breaks to stretch or just get up and walk for a few minutes. Others of us have developed poor habits while we are sitting that contribute to back problems. Indeed, sitting isn’t the problem so much as being smart about how we sit. Make sure you take a break every few hours to stretch and make sure you aren’t holding yourself in unusual positions while you are sitting either.
