Drifting for Beginners – How to Drift Your Car in 3 Easy Steps

[ad_1]

Drifting is becoming more and more popular by the minute. Everywhere we see, on the street and in the stores, drifting is on fire. Ever since drifting busted out onto the mainstream with help from Hollywood movies and with the increase in drifting fans, the surge for wanting to learn how to drift, like they see in the movies has grown rapidly.

Sure drifting looks easy, just drive really fast and get your car sideways and smoke the rear tires. But as you’d know if you’ve already tried drifting, it isn’t as easy as they make it look on the big screen.

Here’s a short drifting lesson for beginners. The very basics of drifting. First, here’s what you need:

1. You need a car – preferably rear wheel drive.

2. It should be a manual car preferably. Automatics are harder to drift but not impossible.

3. You need to go practice in a wide open area where its legal and safe. Drift days are the place to go.

4. You’ll need some spare tires. Obviously.

Now, here’s what to do:

1. You want to practice doing circles or donuts in one spot on the donut pad or wide open flat area around a pilon / cone. DON’T go straight to the circuit trying to drift around corners on your first time attempting drift.

Do donuts to the right, then change and do circles to the left. Start with small circles and then get bigger.

2. Once you have mastered the donuts, you can start to use the handbrake and try some 180 degree spins. Set up 2 pilons about 100 feet apart and go up and back doing 180 handbrake turns.

You shouldn’t try to drift out of the turns yet, just get used to your handbrake and feeling of the slide of your car. Once you can get it nice and smooth, you can try drifting out of the slide.

NOTE: Keep the handbrake on for longer than a split second. Slide it right around with the handbrake until you’re facing the way you want to go then you can power out.

3. Keeping the 2 pilons where they are, you can now try figure-8 drifting around the pilons. Just like you we’re doing in the 180 degree spins, use your handbrake to slide it right around and then power out straight, lining yourself up for the other side of the pilon at the other end. Repeat and try to get close to the pilons with your ront bumper as you can – touching the clipping point – just like the pro drift drivers!

Try these beginners drifting tips before you hit the track and total your car. Just like any sports, practice makes perfect and the right training when learning how to drift will keep you and your car safe so you can live to drift another day.

Small Business Challenges

[ad_1]

In the world today, small businesses suffer from the lack of marketing their customers and sometimes its due to the insufficient amount of money they have to brand and advertise their business. Just to have a billboard of your company on a building you would need close to a million dollars for advertisement. I had the privilege of catching up with Ed Buss, a CEO of fresh filtered air Inc in the small town of Shawnee Oklahoma. Ed Buss and his wife started his company by the idea of his wife seeing an ad in the local newspaper about 21 years ago and thought it was a good idea so they decided to create Fresh Filtered air inc.

Ed Buss has and runs a small filter service business, he serves his business on a 2-week service plan, 2-4,6-8-10-12-week plan for his customers. His business isn’t a popular company but it does well for how small it is. Some of the challenges he faces with his filter company is in the social media marketing area. He doesn’t have a true website, his company isn’t on any social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. he doesn’t have a strong way to connect with current or future customers, his business has been stringing simply from word to mouth over 21 years’ span. He also struggles with a company logo which I personally believe will help him establish a bigger customer base. By allowing his company to partake in the social media world it could improve his customer base drastically and help bring in more potential clients rather than going from door to door selling his service price by word to mouth.

Another challenge Ed Buss faces with his small business is field expenses, he has to make sure that when someone calls in for a service order that they are for sure going to go through with it due to gas and mileage on the trucks. Ed Buss’s filter service has two employee trucks and he does a great job making sure that all the services are around and done on the same route. Ed Buss says that his employees have a lot of window time and drive a little over 90,000 miles a year. As a small company that means that your customer base isn’t very big, so you want to make sure you have enough funds in your business to keep the trucks that carry out your business’s service orders in good shape.

Quest for Freedom–A Story Of Pure Courage

[ad_1]

The Nazis stormed into the house of Stanislavsky Lech, who was Jewish, herded the entire family out at gunpoint, packed them into an overcrowded train, filled with the stench of death and despair, and sent them to Krakow.

Then, before his eyes, Lech saw his entire family shot. Somehow, he managed to live from one day to the next, in a numb, oblivious, zombie-like state. Impatiently, he awaited his own death. But one day, he realized, that his own death was not an unavoidable truth. He could, in fact, do something about it: he could make an attempt to escape.

Once he had made his decision, he didn’t know how to execute it. He only knew one simple thing: his decision was irrevocable, and, somehow, he had to find a way to act on it.

As the weeks passed into months, he interrogated his fellow prisoners. “How can we escape?” he would ask. He became a nuisance, an irritation. “It’s hopeless,” they would echo. “Stop hurting yourself,” they would plead. Some would abuse him openly; others would turn away in silence.

In turn, he rejected their answers, their silences, their overbearing despair. There has to be a way, he told himself, and I will find it. This is my revenge: by surviving I will prove that the Nazis aren’t invincible and that they don’t have complete control of our wills and that they can’t do what they like with us.

Each day he would run a dialogue through his head. “Today I choose to escape from this nightmare. I will not continue to be a victim. I will not accept these conditions. I am a man, with rights and dignity, and I will, so help me God, find a way to let the whole world know about what is going on here. I will escape. There is no doubt in my mind. How can I escape today, perhaps right now? There is a weakness in their security.

They cannot watch us every minute. There is something I need to find, and I will find it today, something that I have overlooked, something that will bring me freedom. There is a weak link here, somewhere. I will find it.”

The urgency of his question pounded on his heart and mind every waking moment, and it followed him into his dreams.

Then, one day, as dismal as any other, he saw what had been before him all along. The Nazis would let the corpses of naked men, women and children, shot because they were too weak to work in the labor camp, pile up on the ground before a truck would come and haul them away. With typical efficiency, the truck would only come when there were enough bodies to fill it up.

Hiding behind a bush, he stripped off all his clothes, then dived into the mound of corpses. He lay still, pretending to be dead, the nauseating odor of death all around him.

He lay there for a day. More corpses were thrown on top of him. He did not flinch. Finally, the truck came. Rough hands pushed his inert body into the truck.

In the truck, many more hours of horror passed. Finally, his body was dumped into an open grave.

He waited until nightfall before climbing out.

The sweet smell of night, the fresh breeze, filled his lungs as he ran twenty-five miles to freedom.

The Top 5 Biggest Trucking Companies in the US

[ad_1]

Looking to become a tucker? There are tons of carrier companies out there to work for, but most likely, you’ll be working for one of the really big companies that represent the backbone of the U.S. trucking industry. To familiarize yourself with the business, here are the top five largest carriers in the U.S. as of 2003.

1. United Parcel Service – You may know them best as UPS or, as “The Brown Machine.” UPS is headquartered in Sandy Springs, Georgia and UPS delivers more than 15 million packages a day to 6.1 million customers in more than 200 countries and territories around the world. Ironically, this massive company was started in 1907 by two teenagers as the American Messenger Company. They capitalized the start-up with a $100 loan and grew it into a multi-billion dollar company.

2. FedEx Ground – This shipping juggernaut was created to take advantage of new bar code, material handling and computer technologies and has expanded to cover the entire United States. As of 2009, FedEx ground employs over 70,000 people.

3. Schneider National – It is the largest privately-owned truckload carrier in the United States and is headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Schneider National operates 14,000 tractors, 40,000 trailers, and has partnerships with over 6,000 carriers. Schneider drives more than five million loaded miles per day, and provides services to more than two-thirds of the companies in the Fortune 500.

4. Roadway – Through its full-service network, consisting of 349 service centers, and with its 32,119 trailers and 8,426 tractors, Roadway is able to deliver over 49,000 shipments per day. Roadway employs over 23,000 people and their trucks are easily recognizable by their ROADWAY logo that is printed boldly across their trailers.

5. Yellow Transportation Inc. – Originally founded as the Yellow Cab and Transit Company, a bus and taxi company that served central Oklahoma. Why are Yellow’s vehicles actually orange, you may ask? Because in 1929, a study was done for safety concerns which determined that the color of the swamp holly berry would be most visible from the greatest distance. Swamp Holly Orange became the color used on all company tractors.

If you’re looking for employment after graduating from a trucking school [http://www.ait-schools.com/financialaid.html], going to work for a major carrier just may be in your best interests. The economic conditions after the 2008 financial meltdown have put many companies in on a not-so-great footing, so getting in with one of the larger, more sustainable companies may be the best idea for someone just starting their career. The good news is that after graduating and getting your CDL license, you can enter the lucrative world of driving an 18-wheeler. But be careful not to rush into working for a company until you’ve thoroughly gone over your employment options.

Having a Driver’s License in Turkey

[ad_1]

In Turkey the driving age is eighteen for automobile license. There are nine different types of driver’s license: A1, A2, B, C, D, E, F, G, H. You must be at least 17 to get A1, A2, F and H licenses. A1 is scooter license, A2 is scooter+motorcycle license, F is tractor license and H is handicapped license. You must be at least 18 to get B and G licenses. B is car, van or small truck license, G is heavy machinery license. If you want to have C, D or E licenses, you must be at least 22. C is B+dump truck license, D is C+truck license, E is C+bus license.

If you want to have F,G or H licenses you must be graduated from elementary school. If you wan to have A1, A2, B, C, D or E licenses you must be graduated from middle school. The applicants must have a physical report from a doctor with signature. They must take the written test first. Then they will be asked to take the driving test.

To have a driver’s license you will be asked to have some documents including photos, a copy of your identification card, elementary school or middle school diploma, physical report and a document which says you didn’t kill anybody.

In Turkey lots of teenagers don’t like the driving age law. Because when they compare Turkey with America they thinks it is unfair. In America the driving age is 16. In some states it is 14.

Fall Prevention Equipment – A Necessity for Bucket Trucks and Roofing Jobs

[ad_1]

In an effort to reduce fatalities in the residential construction workplace, in 2010, the OSHA made significant changes to their fall protection guidelines. For residential roofing jobs that call for a worker to be higher than 6 feet in the air, they are required to be protected by the use of guard-rail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. If an employer can prove that these systems create a greater hazard for the worker, then the employer will be required to implement a fall protection plan. All fall protection plans must be prepared and approved by a qualified person and also re-approved by a qualified person if anything in the protection plan changes.

When working in aerial lift or boom-type platforms, including scissor lifts and bucket trucks, the worker must either have a guardrail system in place (where applicable) or be tied off. The acceptable methods for tie-offs are explained below.

Restraint Systems – Restraint systems include a body belt or harness. There must be a fall protection plan in place that prevents a worker from falling any distance.

Positioning Devices – Typically used in construction work, a positioning device is defined as a body belt or harness system that is rigged to allow an employee to be supported on a vertical surface, such as up a pole, and work while leaning and having both hands free. Positioning devices are allowed to have a maximum fall of up to 2 feet. These devices are not allowed for use in scissor lifts or bucket trucks as they are working on a horizontal platform.

Fall Arrest Systems – Also used in construction work, this is a device that allows an arrested fall when the aerial lift or scaffold is able to withstand vertical and lateral loads caused by an arrested fall. With this system, you must use a body harness instead of a body belt.

Recently, the OSHA has started cracking down on enforcing these guidelines. They claim there are weekly deaths related to falls that could have been prevented by utilizing the proper safety procedures and equipment. Safety should be the first concern for workers in these industries. Penalties accrued by not following using safety methods can be very expensive. Back in 2010, the OSHA proposed a $70,000 penalty against Johnson Controls for allowing their workers on roofs without fall protection. The worst penalty of all, though, is serious injury or death caused by something so easily prevented as putting on your harness

Lumpers and Humpers – Who Are They and What Do They Do?

[ad_1]

The dictionary defines a lumper as a laborer who handles freight or cargo. In the trucking industry that is exactly what a lumper does. He or she unloads trailers for others. They are independent of the warehouse where the driver is making their delivery. The term humper is used more often when talking about household goods. It seems fitting doesn’t it? A person humps the boxes or furniture on their backs.

How much do Lumpers/Humpers cost?

How do you find one?

Why you should hire a lumper

Lumpers being independent in most cases can charge what they want. They are usually reasonable. Probably a normal range is anywhere from $60.00 to $150.00. The product and where you deliver will make the final difference in how much it will cost you.

Let’s use a pallet full of frozen cheese sticks and the pallet is stacked 8 high and 12 wide. The warehouse that you are delivering will only allow 6 high and 12 wide and you will have to break the pallet down to fit their requirements. Multiply that by 22 or 24 pallets and it turns into a lot of work.

The next load might be toilet paper loaded on the floor all the way to the roof and it has to go onto pallets of 4X6. Believe me that it makes it a tough job. It has to be done and this is a real live example of some of the work that is being done at warehouses every day. The Lumpers are there for drivers for several reasons.

Lumping provides a living for their families.

Drivers are needed to drive not so much to unload their trucks

Convenience for the warehouses

There are many warehouses across the country and not all of them are allowed to hire or should we say won’t hire the extra help and pay the Lumpers’ wages. Most of the jobs do not require full time employees and therefore it would be too costly to have to pay a person a full day’s wages.

If a driver spends several hours unloading their truck then that takes away from their driving time for the week. If they are people who drive OTR everyday then they don’t have enough log book time to throw away unloading the truck. There are absolutely no rules that say that you can’t make extra money unloading your truck, but the company and/or the broker pays the lumper fees from their money they receive from the customers. You might as well let the Lumpers provide for their families and you get some rest.

The warehouses like Lumpers because it makes the warehousemen’s job all that much easier because they don’t have to waste time teaching drivers how to stack the items they way that there particular warehouse wants them stacked. They can continue to work and get their job completed.

Many humpers work from truck stops, especially in metropolitan areas where many moves are made every day. Some can be found from the local moving companies. Usually drivers find someone in an area of the country that they frequent and they will try to use the same people over and over. If you’re new to the job then maybe you need to call the local representative of your company and they will help you locate good workers. Also there is always the job centers located in the cities.

Do You Love an Alcoholic-Stop Rescuing and Enabling (Part 1)

[ad_1]

Do you love an alcoholic? How can you live with an alcoholic and love them at the same time? Very carefully. It’s true, it is very difficult to live with an alcoholic, but people do it all the time. Alcohol controls the mind and spirit of a person, so in affect as long as the alcoholic is drinking you will not get much love in return. Being married to an alcoholic is not a reason for divorce. It is reason for helping your loved one with the disease. Alcohol addiction is called the insidious disease for a reason. It breaks up homes, kills lives, and keeps them from discovering the Creator. Can it get anymore insidious than that?

A person who drinks excessively is called an alcoholic but that is not who they are. A person who drives a truck is called a trucker, but that is not who they are. I believe alcohol addiction to be a phase or transition of a person’s life, meaning it can be temporary. But many alcoholics become sober only to start drinking again, soon after, why? It is because they think they are in control of their addiction, but they aren’t. If a person truly wants to get sober and stay sober, they will.

The person behind the destruction and deception of alcohol is a totally different person when they have been sober for six months. A sober alcoholic can be a very loving and spiritual human being who is able to discern right from wrong and able to live a happy and abundant life. As long as the alcoholic remains drinking, his true character remains hidden from others, and will be under the control of the drink in every aspect of his life.

What can you do for the alcoholic in your life? The first step in helping them is to first help yourself. Become knowledgeable about the disease. Once you realize the impact of how your actions may be affecting the alcoholic in your life, you can detach properly from their destructive behavior. Detaching can be difficult to do but if you love the alcoholic and want to be supportive, detaching with love is the way to go.

Are you enabling your loved one to drink? Are you rescuing them from their problems and responsibilities? Ask yourself these questions to find out?

Am I doing anything that would enable the alcoholic to drink?

Am I doing anything that would facilitate the alcoholic’s behavior?

Am I doing anything that would rescue the alcoholic from his problems?

Am I getting driven into the disease with the alcoholic?

The only way to truly be supportive is don’t rescue, don’t enable, and don’t allow yourself to get driven into the disease with them. Here are some of the ways you enable the alcoholic.

You enable when you take up the slack for the alcoholic by doing their chores, duties and responsibilities. You enable when you give the alcoholic money or buy them booze.

You enable when you drink with them, or when you do anything to help the alcoholic to continue to live his alcoholic lifestyle and not realize that he has a drinking problem. If you do everything for him, how will he know?

Here are some of the ways you would rescue the alcoholic? You rescue when you sweep the alcoholic’s messes under the rug. The alcoholic NEEDS to be responsible for his own mess. You rescue when you lie for them. You rescue when you bail them out of jail or pay court fees for them.

Understand that the enabler/rescuer, which is you, help the alcoholic to continue drinking when you unintentionally become entangled within the deception of the disease with them. Remember, alcoholism is an insidious disease, and it will trap you in its grip if you allow it to. Don’t allow this to happen, or there will be no hope in the alcoholic to ever stop drinking.

How would you become driven into the disease with the alcoholic? By trying to control the alcoholic and how and when he drinks. By threatening the alcoholic with angry words and name calling, you are driving yourself into alcoholism. Don’t fuss, fight, argue, plead or try to control the alcoholic – it won’t work!

When the alcoholic spouse tells you they are sorry for anything bad they did against the marriage or you, they probably are really sorry, but that does not mean that it won’t happen again. An alcoholic can’t control their actions once they start drinking. The drinking is what makes them out of control and under the enslavement of the disease.

There is great hope for the alcoholic in your life, if you take care of yourself first, by not enabling, rescuing or getting driven into the disease. Once you are aware of what you should and should not do, you will be free to set boundaries for yourself in the home. An alcoholic will not abide by any boundaries, so it would be fruitless to try. You are setting boundaries for your own spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being, not the alcoholic’s. See part 2 of this article for setting boundaries.
