How Does a Gravity Conveyor Work?

[ad_1]

When moving merchandise from Point A to Point B, one of the easiest ways to do it is with gravity conveyors. They are primarily used to move merchandise throughout the material handling supply chain. They come in a variety of styles and have several features.

Function

Gravity conveyors are metal frames with rollers or wheels that convey products from one location to the next on a slanted route. Gravity conveyors are used to transport product on a level push line or gravity pitched flow line.

They eliminate the need for lifting boxes from one location, stacking them on a cart or hand truck and wheeling them to another location. The energy exerted by humans to move the stock is eliminated. The work is done by gravity. The angled rack will hold the boxes. The wheels roll as the box slides across them, sending it downward to its destination. When it arrives, its momentum will be stopped by a stationary object or a landing area without rollers. The object can sit in storage at this point or be moved elsewhere, depending on what needs to be done with it.

Size

One of the advantages of a gravity conveyor is that sections can be joined together to increase roller track length. For example, picture a rack that is seven feet long and connects a chute to a shelf. When there is no more room on it for additional boxes, another seven-foot track can be attached to the empty conveyor. the end of this one can be set up for another shelf where merchandise can land. Racks can be cut to proper length to properly fit the layout plan.

Mobile Storage

Sometimes, there is no more room left for merchandise to land in storage. There may be too many boxes and not enough space or a standstill to the process. Rather than backing up box after box, the gravity conveyors can be reconnected and aligned to run in an endless storage loop. They can remain on the conveyors until it is time for them to be shipped, picked or otherwise relocated.

Durability

Most assemblies are made of strong metal, which enables the equipment to withstand the ridors of order picking operations. They steel rollers, wheels and channel can withstand items being dropped or slammed onto them by people or machinery without bending or failing.

Storage Racks

When not transporting product conveyors can be used as conventional storage racks. Conveyor sections can be used as storage lanes and pitched to flow product from a load point to pick point.. This increases space utilization within a facility and increases pick rates.

Radar, Laser, Police Detectors – What Is It, What To Look For, And How To Buy Quality Radar Detector

[ad_1]

What is it?

To first of all answer your question, radar, laser, and other police frequency detectors are not illegal outside of Virginia and the District of Columbia (D.C.) Radar detectors are only illegal in commercial vehicles or passenger transport vehicles. Basically if you drive anything bigger than a standard pickup truck, you should not use a radar or laser detector in your vehicle.

You could probably imagine why anyone would want a radar detector. It’s primarily for all of you speeders out there who would like to avoid a fat traffic ticket. Even if you’re not an excessive speeder, you may even find laser or radar detectors to be useful. There are some areas where police or highway patrol officers are more tolerant of minor speeding, yet there are also those areas where they seem to pull over anyone going 1 mile per hour over the speed limit. If you drive in Los Angeles, 10 to even about 20 miles above the posted speed limit signs may be tolerated as long as it’s with the flow of traffic, however, going 80 in a 65 MPH zone in the middle of Utah may not be so tolerated by the highway patrol. Whether or not you’re an intentional speeder or a faster-than-most type of driver, a radar or laser detector could save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Another much less-popular usage for a radar detector is for the detection of emergency vehicles. This helps a lot if you’re listening to loud music in your car and can’t hear audible sirens outside. Some Cobra radar detectors are capable of detecting emergency vehicles approaching your location so that you may safely move aside for them.

Let’s go over some of the most important features that you’ll want to look for in an effective radar detector.

Radar Detectors Features:

First, figure out how much you want to spend. You’re more likely to find high quality brands and products within the $120 to $200 price range. Cobra radar detectors are some of the best quality ones you’ll find in this price range, as well as Beltronics detectors in the lower end of the price range.

Next, find the most comprehensive detection available in each of the products. Simple radar detectors will not detect laser or the most high-tech police speed readers out there. Police speed readers have progressed as fast, if not faster than the commercial radar detectors. Laser detection was developed after radar for much more accurate and longer range detection; and they have also implement KU-band hard-to-detect radar speed gun. In addition, the police have also used VG-2 radar detector-detectors to find suspected speeders.

Scary huh? Well don’t worry because Cobra digital radar and laser detectors have you covered. Cobra detectors are capable of reading simultaneous signals with multiple channel detectors. This means that if there are more than one cop out there, some Cobra laser/radar detectors could track up to 12 signals. It could detect radar, laser, and even KU-band signals with Spectre or VG-2 detector-detector coverage. Some Cobra radar detectors also have voice alert feature that announces the detection of nearby signals. Most units, even Beltronics radar detectors, also feature a city/highway mode switch that reduces the amount of false signals that could be detected or triggered from other wireless radio transmissions such as wireless internet, handheld devices, etc.

There are also bells-and-whistles features in some of the more expensive models. For instance, the higher-end cobra radar detectors feature battery voltage meter and an 8-point compass that indicates where the detected signal is coming from. My best advice to you is to find a radar detector that functions effectively with all detection and “stealth” coverage with as little bells-and-whistles as possible to reduce the price. Don’t just settle for the cheapest radar detector because they’re likely to fail you and more likely to waste your money… not to mention a hefty traffic ticket! I suggest looking for Cobra radar detectors or BEL radar detectors as they seem to have more effective features than most generic brands.

The Mechanics of the Bosch 044 Fuel Pump

[ad_1]

The Bosch 044 fuel pump (otherwise known as the Bosch Universal Inline 300 LPH) is a beauty as far as inline pumps go. It’s usually mounted on the outside of a vehicle’s gas tank, underneath and near the back center area.

Whenever great demands are made on a car or truck, the need for efficient fuel delivery and the maintenance of a proper air/fuel ratio increases. That’s where the Bosch pump comes in. Its main purpose is to provide at least 300 LPH of continuous fuel flow to the vehicle in question to help sustain its performance over the long haul.

Specs-wise, the Bosch 044 fuel pump weighs a little over two pounds; it runs a minimum current of 12 volts. Its high temperature reduction measures 30 LPH, and it operates at a pressure level of 72.5 PSI. Inlet and outlet fuel connections are at M18 x 1.5 and M12 x 1.5, respectively.

Interestingly, this inline pump is comparable to the Walbro 255LPH. Both of these pumps can handle up to 600 or 700 horsepower support for vehicles. The former may also be used in sequence with either a Bosch 040 or an in-tank Walbro. It’s also possible to use two 044s for up to an impressive 1200 horse power for turbocharged applications.

These days, a Bosch 044 model may be purchased online for around US$200. When hunting for one, customers would be wise to look for a dealer that offers guarantees that match the excellent nature of the product itself.

Safety Precautions of Material Handling

[ad_1]

Material Handling involves handling, storing, and controlling materials, different operations like moving and storing steel, keeping track of as well as organizing various tools, equipment and barrels, this also deals with the driving of trucks carrying loads. Companies who succeed in this industry are very good at handling and maintaining a wide range of materials. Not only raw materials but handling and storing material operations also being a steady flow and occasional assembling a product when necessary. Improper handling of materials can cause a lot of injuries.

One should apply the correct safety guidelines. When dealing with dangerous materials and hazardous chemicals to prepare any unfortunate workplace accident. Whether transporting items mechanically or moving it manually, employees of a company should understand and know all the guidelines and all the safety restrictions that go along with the job. In this industry safety is of the utmost importance and should be viewed that way.

As many injuries that occur from the mishandling of materials. You have just as many accidents are caused by workers who are being negligent. Workers who handle various materials, should have a good understanding of that job and no all of the safety measures. This will cut down tremendously the number of accidents that occur.

Workers should take the following precautions while handling material manually: they should always wear the proper protection equipment, attach all holds and handles to the load, worker should keep their eyes and mind on task at all times, and always follow safety guidelines.

While moving materials with different machines, increases the potential for employee injuries. Another important factor that all employees must pay close attention is to see if all materials are properly labeled. There are a number of ways in which handling material equipment can improve efficiency. This is used to increase throughput, control costs, and maximize productivity.

There are a number of various equipment for handling materials. They consist of storage and handling equipment both automated and non automated. Examples of non-automated equipment are carts and shelving.when it comes to the handling of various materials story is just as important the actual handling process.when you deal with different materials have to find out what is important and what is not you have to have your priorities.

Other examples of equipment associated with the handling of material are paying such as engineered systems, industrial and forklift trucks. There are also equipment full handling bulk material such as you would see on various farm and mining field. There are lot of equipment out there and equipment is only as good as its operator. You will always find companies that are looking for certified machine operators.

There has to be some precaution taken to avoid material handling hazards. It is the job of the employer to make sure that all workers or where of all race factors and all diagnostic going on with the various materials.the employer should also ensure that all employees are not only properly trained, but are equipped with all the necessary tools to do the job correctly.

Industrial Pressure Washer Tips: Pressure Washing in Cold-Weather

[ad_1]

All experienced commercial pressure washers know that ice can be fatal for an industrial pressure washer. Consider that water expands 9% when it freezes. This means that if you leave water in your pressure washer over a freezing spell, you could very well break internal components. Read on to learn how to prepare an industrial pressure washer for cold temperatures. You’ll also discover the coldest temperatures at which commercial pressure washers should be operated.

1. DO NOT allow your equipment to freeze.

When freezing temperatures are in the forecast, it’s time to move your power washing equipment to a warm, dry place. If the washer is in a constricted space, such as a van, you may need to move a heater inside to keep it warm overnight. In a pinch, a 500-watt halogen bulb may be aimed at the pump to prevent freezing. If you have no place to keep your machine warm, you can either continually run warm water through it, or cover it with a tarp and hope for the best.

2. An anti-freeze flush is the ideal way to protect it.

Ideally, you’ll have plenty of warning time before cold temperatures hit. If so, washing out your pressure washing equipment with anti-freeze is the best way to go. Just make sure that the car or RV anti-freeze you’re using is rated to the lowest common temperatures for your area.

To flush anti-freeze through your machine, start by pouring anti-freeze into the float tank. Activate the industrial pressure washer to send the anti-freeze through the system. To defend the coils, pump, and plumbing, remove the spray tip off and then place the wand in the float tank. To send anti-freeze through the unloader bypass line, pump the trigger for a couple of minutes, activating and releasing the machine. Lastly, if your pressure washing equipment is compatible with chemical cleaners, you’ll need to send anti-freeze through the chemical line hose separately. It should be possible to capture and reuse the same five gallons of anti-freeze throughout this procedure. On the off chance that your pressure washing equipment lacks a float tank, simply use a five-gallon bucket instead; this is the pool that will feed the water intake hose.

If you are caught in an emergency without anti-freeze, you can flush an industrial pressure washer out with air. However, because this may leave trace amounts of water in certain components, this is not the recommended approach.

3. Avoid operating in cold weather.

The lowest safe temperature for commercial pressure washers to operate at depends on the wind conditions and your machine’s capabilities. If no wind is present, 15-25 degree temperatures are safe for hot water operation of your industrial pressure washer. (Only hot water machines should be run when temperatures are below freezing.) In contrast, on a windy day even hot water pressure washing equipment should be set aside when the temperature drops below 34 degree Fahrenheit.

Once the hot water has left your industrial pressure washer, it will soon turn to ice, which is a big liability on your part. To avoid creating hazardous conditions on your clients’ driveways and other surfaces, bring and apply calcium chloride or rock salt. Finally, do not aim your power washer at locks, brake drums, or other equipment that could break under ice.

The Advantages of Air Brake Equipment

[ad_1]

Air brake equipment is used in large heavy vehicles, particularly those having multiple trailers which must be linked into the vehicle’s system, such as trucks, busses and trailers. They are used as an alternative to hydraulic brakes which are used on lighter vehicles such as cars. The system consists of service brakes, parking brakes, a control pedal, and an air storage tank. Here are a few advantages of air brake equipment that can help you in the future.

It is reliable. Air brake equipment is much more reliable than hydraulic brakes. It is very powerful and a single pedal can work all the air brake equipment in the system which makes everything much easier to control as there’s less that can go wrong. It is further split into front and rear wheel circuits which receives compressed air from their individual reservoirs for added safety and causes fewer problems. If there is a leak or even if the compression mechanism completely fails, the brakes revert back to their default activated position and the vehicle will be brought to a standstill.

It is cost effective. As an operating medium air costs nothing and is freely available. This is a source of energy which operates various equipment on the vehicle. Since air is so easily available, this significantly reduces the chance of failure due to leaks in the braking system. It’s easy to maintain and adjust plus it gives you warning signs before they are about to fail. It has no leaking problems and if there are any minor leaks, it’s not crucial because the compressor continually supplies more pressure. There is no pressure drop and air is transmitted faster. Air brake equipment lines have a large inside diameter.

The air brake equipment is very safe to use. It comes with a safety back up which is called the spring brakes. When there is no air in the system the spring air activates. When the system has sufficient air for the regular brakes to function the spring is compressed. If the little red wig wag drops while the car is moving, the driver should know to pull over and try to stop before the spring brake activates and bring the car to a complete standstill, safely. You will still be able to drive the vehicle to a safe place where you can stop and check the car. There is no direct connection in any mechanical or hydraulic sense between the braking pedal and the wheel brake chambers. It is very easy to replace these truck and trailer parts and no bleeding is required when replacing these components.

Forklift Training Prices: Important Considerations

[ad_1]

If you are looking to train someone in the use of a forklift truck, there are are a number of points to think about before considering forklift training prices.

Why ought my company have its operators trained?

Every year, serious injury or deaths are caused by accidents involving forklift trucks. Statistics from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) show that about 10 percent of these incidents result from inadequate operator training.

Responsibility rests on your shoulders, as an employer, for ensuring proper training to approved standards, for all users of workplace tools and equipment. Don’t forget that supervisors must also be given the necessary training.

Paraphrasing PUWER’s regulations:

For health and safety, it is imperative that employers give relevant training to employees, not only in the proper use of workplace equipment, but also in the associated risks involved in the equipment’s use and what precautions to take.

Employers must make sure that employees managing or supervising the use of work equipment, have undergone relevant training, for health and safety reasons. This training should encompass what systems may be implemented in using the equipment, as well as any risks that such use might bring into play and the precautions to put in place.

Each industry carries its own risks. No matter what precautions a company takes, there is always the chance of a workplace accident happening. Of course, these accidents, some causing death, are very upsetting to those involved and their families.

Such accidents, even when no-one is injured, can also involve significant cost to the employer. Not only can damage or destruction occur to vehicles, but also to the surrounding building and its fitting and to the goods being handled at the time.

What might happen if I do nothing?

Failure to train your operators could be considered to be: contravening either the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations or the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations.

It is entirely possible in the event of an accident, that the Health & Safety Executive decide to prosecute you. If it is found that you have not properly discharged your duties according to the Health & Safety At Work Act, your company insurance may not cover you. Furthermore, if the directors are found to be liable, crippling penalties could be imposed on them.

There is also the chance of a conviction leading to unwanted publicity. This in turn can lead to loss of goodwill toward the company and loss of business. This alone should be reason enough to ensure your operators are properly trained where health and safety regulations are concerned.

What action should you take?

Simple. Do not allow any untrained personnel to use a forklift truck, even if only on a very occasional basis. Anyone using such equipment must have passed all the appropriate training and tests.

Once trained, your operator’s performance needs to be regularly monitored. This is simply the best way to ensure proper and safe use of forklift trucks and similar equipment. As you are now aware, failure to train your employees could have dire consequences.

It is not only desirable to put into place a strong ongoing programme of training, it is also a legal requirement. Such a programme is, of course, essential to ensure the safety of what are key members of staff.

Do not just consider forklift training prices when choosing a training supplier. The best training companies will not be the cheapest. Check out as many in your area as you can. Ask other forklift users their opinions of different companies.

The Diesel DPF Dilemma

[ad_1]

If there was a way to make your street-legal diesel particulate filter (DPF) equipped diesel truck perform at the same level as an off-road racing DPF-deleted rig, would you want to know how? DPF Deletion is great for off-road racing, but what about the rest of us who just want better fuel economy, improved towing and diesel performance?

Most late-model diesel truck owners are now familiar with the term DPF. If you used to get 15-20 miles per gallon on your pre-DPF diesel truck, you were probably shocked when you first figured out that your brand new $50,000 diesel got 8-13 MPG. And how about the first time you were towing a heavy load up a long grade when your diesel suddenly went into DPF regeneration and your speed plummeted to the point of being dangerously slow? If you’re like thousands of other diesel owners, you’ve been looking for a way to safely and legally improve your diesel fuel economy as well as increase horsepower on your DPF-equipped 2007.5 to 2010 Dodge Ram 6.7L Cummins, 2007.5 to 2010 GM 6.6L Duramax, or 2008 to 2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke. Now there is a new option that will give you exactly what you want!

Many of the major manufacturers of diesel performance aftermarket products have tried to figure out an effective way to reverse the performance and fuel economy-reducing effects of the emissions control DPF device. Matt Snow and the diesel performance geniuses at Snow Performance have found a simple yet brilliant solution. Installing one of their Diesel Stage 3 MPG-Max Boost Cooler water-methanol injection kits on a DPF-equipped truck gives a boost in fuel economy of 1-3 MPG, with most diesel owners getting over 2 MPG. And here’s the best part – the more often your truck was going into DPF regeneration before installing the Boost Cooler kit, the bigger your fuel economy gains will be. Let’s look at the reasons why.

A diesel particulate filter is designed to remove soot and other particulates from the exhaust gas stream. The filtered soot and particulates build up until the filter needs to be cleaned, a process call “regeneration”. In the Dodge, Ford, and GM diesels that are so popular in North America today, filter regeneration, or cleaning, is achieved through using a fuel burner that heats the particulate filter to the combustion point of the soot and particulates. Every time your filter has to be cleaned, more diesel fuel has to be burned to heat the filter. And, as you might imagine, this doesn’t help with diesel fuel economy.

The product development team at Snow Performance already knew that pre-DPF diesels utilizing their Boost Cooler kits experienced decreased emissions of particulate matter and NOx due to increased combustion efficiency. Injected methanol acts as a combustion catalyst, meaning your diesel fuel gets burned more efficiently and more completely. Instead of sending unburned fuel and particulates out the tailpipe as smoke and pollution, using the Snow Performance water-methanol injection kits on pre-DPF diesels caused their emissions to drop dramatically. What they didn’t know for sure, but suspected, was that their kits would have an even more beneficial effect on the new diesel trucks coming out with DPF’s installed.

The Snow Performance crew was right. Running one of their Boost Cooler kits on a DPF-equipped diesel truck still led to lower exhaust gas temperatures and increased horsepower. Most importantly, the water-methanol injection kits improved combustion efficiency so dramatically that the particulate filters on their test trucks just never got dirty enough to need to be cleaned. The exhaust stream was “scrubbed” so effectively by the water-methanol injection that the filters didn’t need to go into regeneration mode. This of course led to even greater and consistent gains in fuel economy.

For diesel performance enthusiasts, combining a Stage 3 MPG-Max Boost Cooler water-methanol injection kit with the a diesel performance chip, programmer, or tuner allows you to use today’s popular electronic power-adders without the worry of clogging and ruining your expensive particulate filter. Now you can have your diesel performance cake and eat it too! For increased fuel mileage, more horsepower and torque, a better towing experience, and reduced emissions without resorting to DPF deletion, invest in a Snow Performance Stage 3 MPG-Max Boost Cooler water-methanol injection kit for your DPF-equipped Cummins, Duramax or Powerstroke diesel today!

Antifreeze – Useful in Extreme Hot and Cold Weather Conditions

[ad_1]

Anti freeze is very important in cold weather for preventing the vehicles from getting damaged due to freezing of water. Antifreeze prevents the water in your car’s radiator from freezing up which in turn destroys some parts of your car. Do you know that antifreeze is vital as a radiator coolant also? Radiator coolant is necessary in your car during hot weather. It prevents car system from damage due to overheating.

In cold countries, where the temperatures fall down considerably sometimes even to negative degrees, antifreeze is most important. Antifreeze is necessary in cold weather in order to prevent important fluids in the vehicles from evaporation. Antifreeze does not evaporate as fast as water. It also has lubricating properties, which is why it is very helpful to the system. The vital parts of your car such as hosepipe and other parts need to be protected from the harsh weather. Cold weather is always brutal and therefore you car needs special care.

The most important use of antifreeze is to keep your vehicle running even in the cold weather with heat. The precious green liquid that is environmentally friendly will help to keep up the engine heat even in the frosty weather. Antifreeze is quite a useful thing for the car system but many people do not understand this and are not aware about the fact. If any sort of problem arises, they think that some mechanical problem has been occurred. Sometimes they think that it might be due to radiator leakage, heater core failures, a thermostat being either open or closed and other things that can go wrong and which causes a car heater to stop working. However, this is not the fact.

In cold weather, it becomes necessary to start the car for every few hours to keep vehicles from entirely freezing up even if the antifreeze is in the system. In very cold regions where the temperature usually remains below zero, frequently requires restarting of the engine to catastrophic failure.

Antifreeze is the most important fluid in the car system. Car needs to be instantly started circulating the fluid in order to keep it warm and the car cool. Keeping your antifreeze at the proper levels is vital at any hour of the year especially in extreme temperatures.

Secret Cleaning Techniques from a Retired Detailer; Lipstick, Ink and Shoe Polish Stain Removal

[ad_1]

So you have found this page searching on the Internet and wish to figure out a way to remove Lipstick Stains from car seats. I bet a certain former president wishes he could go back in time and remove all traces of any lipstick stains from anywhere? Why are lipstick stains so hard to get off. Not that you are trying to get rid of candy cane strips on anything that personal. But when it comes to fabric, it can be a real challenge as you well know. What does lipstick contain? Well the basics are simple enough;

“Dyes and oil-like substances”

is the easy answer. The more involved answer can be better said by the experts in the Cosmetic Industry. Here is what they told us, don’t quote me on it and you may want to think twice next time you are kissing someone or something that is wearing Tangerine Lipstick or lipgloss: Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Octydodecanol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Tocopheryl Acetate, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Silica, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben. May Contain: Mica Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Blue 1 Lake, Red 6 Lake, Red 7 Lake, Red 27 Lake, Yellow 5. Yuk !!!! And you can see why the chemists in the auto detailing, on-site detailing industry have tough time with it. Any dermatologist will tell you this is bad news;

Now then you have this on the car seat of a customers car. Why? Well they did not kiss the seat, their purse fell over and spilled out and the cap popped off and it was a hot day and the lipstick melted onto and into the fabric on the seat. Now it is your problem as a member of the Car Washing and Professional Detailing Industry. So what do you do?

First we recommend using a plastic razor blade and scrapping as much as you can first. Then you need a quick dry solvent, we choose lighter fluid, it evaporates fast and dissolves quickly with little odor. If you have no plastic razor blades use a business card to scrape it. If you fold the business card in half it works best. This way you get a double edge close shave and can scrape most of the lipstick off first. Many high-end car manufacturers like Audi, Porsche, BMW, Cadillac, Volvo, Mercedes recommend their own brands of cleaners for interiors, which are generally made up of Powder to Suds cleaners. Well let us warn you that your wonderful intentions will not work on Lipstick. So you can kiss that idea good bye. If you find a fabric is somewhat faded you may wish to dab the solvent or put it on the corner of a towel first, not paper towel, use terry cloth. Then pat the stain gently and see if it is removing the stain without taking away the coloring.

By the way this will also work on Afghanistan Shoe Polish Sandwich stains on the seats of their cars. Shoe polish sandwich is a way that the locals can get an alcoholic buzz, by putting BLACK (only) shoe polish on a piece of bread letting it soak through filtering out the alcohol to get high. The bread is then discarded into a local Humvee owned by the US Forces. The black shoe polish when it gets hot melts into the vehicle, Great!!! But remember back shoe polish can leak when taken to altitude on a salesman’s road trip on the back seats or in the trunk. We once cleaned it from a golf bag when the operator of the car forgot to take it to his locker at the Local Country Club, it leaked all over his favorite golf bad, Loud golfing shirt, wild socks and interior truck area. We were able to get it out of the trunk and off the golf bag for a handsome tip.

Felt markers also can leave stains and these procedures will work well on them too. Best of luck, you are starting to become a great Professional Detailer.
